About the MSPress

The Medical Student Press (MSPress) encompasses five publications aimed at providing online platforms for medical student work. We welcome submissions of original research, creative writing, op-eds, and more! The MSPress aims to support the scholarly endeavors of students from all over the world.

MSPress is home to the following publications:

The Medical Student Press Journal – This is our main research journal that is published 3-4 times a year. As a editor you will be working through articles assigning reviewers, reviewing yourself, and bringing articles to production in order to be published in the next edition. This journal publishes innovative, wide-ranging research in science and medicine.

Free Clinic Research Collective – The FCRC that specializes in research papers and review articles that are focused on free clinic or free healthcare initiatives around the nation. This journal is usually published twice a year.

The Pillbox – A blog that contains Opinion Editorials from medical students. The pieces on the blog will be written prose pieces which expresses the opinion of an author on a variety of topics that are related to or affect the field of medicine and healthcare as a whole. These are published on a rolling basis.

AMWA’s Linda Brodsky Memorial Journal – This is a memorial journal that publishes the winners of the AMWA Essay competition every year as well as other articles both research and Op-Ed style that relate to women in science and medicine. This is published once a year.

The Medical Commencement Archive – The annual Medical Commencement Archive serves as a repository for keynote speeches at medical school commencement ceremonies. One speech is published weekly each summer. These speeches very often reveal the unique future of the medical field and deserve to be shared and saved on through a strong online platform. The speeches are published through an open-access journal with a Creative Commons license.

Our press, run by a team of student editors, operates using Open Journal Systems to enable open-access publishing. Feel free to reach out to our executive team through this form to get involved as an editor!
