To address this need, medical education programs are working to incorporate interprofessional education (IPE) into the classroom and clinical settings. Student-run free clinics (SRFCs) are a great opportunity to train students to work in interprofessional teams to manage patient care. At the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School, authors conducted a survey of local health professional students to assess their interest in IPE, attitudes towards previous IPE experiences in the SRFCs, and potential barriers to their participation.
